SOUTH CAROLINA STATE GUARD 2ND "HIGHLAND" BRIGADE 3RD BATTALION

      We serve under the orders of the Adjutant General for the State of South Carolina.  During a natural or man-made disaster, the Governor or the Adjutant General can call the State Guard to Active Duty to help all Emergency Management Departments in whatever capacity they deem necessary.  Also we have MOU's with the Sheriff's Office, EMS, and Emergency Departments within our area of operations.

     Also we are a force multiplier for the SC National Guard, in the event they are called out of the state we can be called upon to assume whatever duties the Adjutant General deems necessary. We will give whatever help possible to Family Support Groups for our active duty counterparts when they are called up to active duty.

DISASTER RESPONSE/RELIEF - To respond during a man-made or natural disasters and provide necessary support.  Will work with FEMA, EMS, and NDMS agencies.

SEARCH & RESCUE - To assist in search & rescue operations in wilderness areas of Greenville County.  Will work with Greenville County Sheriff's Department and State Park Rangers.

CIVIC FUNCTION SUPPORT - To assist local law enforcement during civic functions/events (Freedom Weekend Aloft).
